About
Joana
A musician exploring the endless possibilities of the violin

As a unique and creative artist, Joana Carvalhas – also known as The Tiny Musician – is an innovative multi-style violinist, educator, soundpainter, traveller and coffee lover. Originally from Portugal, Joana studied at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland (UK).
Assigning her musical style to one specific genre is impossible, since Joana loves playing a wide range of music genres. She has been traveling and sharing her music around the world – in different countries and cities throughout Europe, the UK, the US and Asia – demonstrating that music has no borders and can connect people from all parts of the globe!
In the past years, Joana has used her musical skills as a session musician to several artists and has collaborated in various projects:
in addition to her solo project of original music for violin and loopstation (from which she recorded her album Indoor Thoughts in 2023), she has participated in recordings and performances for her techno duo project Vegetale Fatale (Germany), as well as The Stellar Anderson Project (UK), Composers Berlin Orchestra (Germany), Angelo Romano (Italy), Bald Chewbacca (Italy) and the Mexico Lindo Mariachis (Germany). During the fes-val Noches Del Botanico in Madrid 2023, Joana was part of Lindsey Stirling’s performance and shared the stage with this artist.
Currently Joana is studying in the masters program at the Berklee College of Music in Valencia (Spain) where she hopes to further progress her mastery of the violin and improvisation techniques.

”What excites me most about performing is the unknown!”
Neither I nor the audience knows exactly what will happen next.
